I absolutely loved this romantic comedy about a wedding planner and a divorce lawyer butting heads and finding love. There is just something about an opposites attract kind of romance that I think might make it my favorite kind of romance. Usually it involves some fun banter and them realising that they actually have something in common that makes them the perfect pair. This definitely had all of that, and the banter had me laughing quite a bit and I actually highlighted quite a bit of quotes. I really loved the way this was written, I loved the humour and I loved the authors view on love and relationships.
“Most couples come together in a rush of passion, but not all of them learn the art of conflict resolution. We want to think we can retain the giddy joy of our wedding day and stretch it to cover all the cracks. But really, it’s when a couple learns how to fight properly—how to argue effectively and work through problems productively—well, that’s the recipe for everlasting love.”
I also loved the characters, both the main characters Charlie and Max, but also all of the secondary characters. I will definitely need to check out the other books in this series. I loved how Max seemed like a cynic, but was truly a romantic a heart with a love for old movies (I’m a moviebuff myself and loved how he tried to use a line from a Hitchcock movie when he first met Charlie – so cute!).
I think I might have discovered a new favourite romantic comedy writer and will have to check out more books from Kate Meader in the future!
